I am an honorably discharged Vietnam era Veteran having served six years active duty, four years in the U.S. Navy and two years in the U.S. Coast Guard. I  have lived, worked and traveled extensively throughout the U.S. working in the petroleum industry. Born in Louisiana, I am a lifelong outdoor enthusiast. I have hunted, fished and camped in virtually every type of environment to be found in the U.S. from the desert country of the Big Bend to the swamps of Louisiana, in the Smoky Mountains, throughout the Rockies and the Cascades. I now live with my wife Rebecca in Southwestern Colorado.

    I became interested in survival, long term survival, after becoming friends with a city emergency manager a few years back. He made me aware of the dangers the U.S. faces every day from manmade as well as natural catastrophic events. In particular the dangers presented to the power grid from an HAEMP (high-altitude pulse bomb) or geomagnetic disturbance (GMD). He explained how himself along with many other emergency managers were frustrated with the overall attitude of FEMA. The fact that not only FEMA but other government agencies seemed unconcerned in making the public aware of and preparing the public for such an event.  This spiked my interest. I started researching the subject, and soon realized the government was derelict in its duties of protecting the U.S. citizens.

    Up front I make no claim to be a survival expert. I consider myself an expert in researching and compiling information. My specialty is in long-term survival with a family. Long-term survival skills are much different than short-term survival skills

    I consulted on a couple episodes of the TV Series “Fallen Skies”. I also worked with the University of Wyoming. the University of Oregon and the University of Missouri on different aspects of long-term survival. I worked with the book series “Foxfire” on crafts. In the past I have also worked with a number of native Americans on Native American Survival skills and food supplies.

     I research, evaluate, and assimilate the information I collect. I then make this information available to my readers.
